Beats by Dre & Monster Cable DONE!

World known music exec and one of the top producers of alltime, Jimmy Iovine & Dr. Dre has been expanding with their Beats by Dreaudio brand for a few years now, and have become one major brand that dealswith pop culture and quality audio at a consumer level. They finally say goodbye to their partnershipwith Monster Cable and will finally go on their own (for now). From HewettPackard PC and laptops, to HTC smartphones, Chrysler’s 300S, and even the new2012 Dodge Charger, Beat by Dre is expanding and becoming a dominant name inaudio.

I am now curious to see what’s next for the music moguls andif they able to deliver a quality product on their own?

There new lines of over-ear headphones are definitely a stepup from their earlier lines. I personally own the beats studios and love themfor a consumer headphone, although, the new beatsmixrand proseem very promising.

What also amuses me is the fact that they do it to providequality audio and quality listening environments to the generation that is wellknown for degraded audio with mp3s and compressed audio. Read more about theend of the two companies at the original article here.

In a YouTube video hereDre also talks about how he listens to the people and finds all the wrongs orthe thing they could add by improving the quality headphones, which is alsoawesome. I can’t stress how much I dislike bad quality audio period. Bad audiois everywhere and this generation really needs to know about listening to musicin a set of nice speakers or headphones or audio systems.

Logic Q&A in Atlanta...

Open Logic Pro Q & A Session @ Atlanta Pro Audio Friday June 18th. (3pm - 7pm)

Na Hoku Nominee

I just got word a few hours ago that Searider Productions Album "Searider Productions Presents... Jam Sessions" was nominated for a Na Hoku Award I believe for 2009. Unfortunately it's a year too late being that the album was released in 2008 through digital distribution.

Now why post about this? This was actually the first album I played a major roll in as the project coordinator/producer. Yes.. my past Job as Waianae High Schools Searider Productions Music Advisor. I loved the job and always look forward to going back home and working with these young and talented students.

Unfortunately, I moved away to Atlanta,GA right smack in the middle of doing the project, so pushing the project hard in hawaii wasn't so much a success. I did promise to release it so that is what happened.

Of course I do plan to go back and help out SP with building a state of the art recording and audio studio, but for now, I am needed out here in the south to do what I love... and expose myself to the musical world.

Logic Studio 2 Seminar

So I got back from Atlanta Pro Audio earlier tonight for a seminar again. Of course it was well worth going! We went over a bunch of new features in the recent release of Logic Studio 2. I have seen a lot of demo's on some of the features but tonight we got even more in depth with it. Some interesting things were of course their flex tool/flex time (for all you pro tools 7.4 and up users... similar to elastic audio). I loved the new features an Pro Tools since 7.4 and their elastic time and especially the new features and plug-ins when 8 arrived, but today once again, I am convinced that Logic Pro 9 is a lot better.

Their work interface is easier to understand in my opinion, the "flex" time features are wayyyyy wayyyy more accurate and more easier.

Having that said, I will be trying even harder to get comfortable with Logics Interface since I am more of a PT8 user. Don't get me wrong... Pro Tools good as well but you can't beat a $500 package of different programs with almost anything you need built in. You have that along with all the other plug-ins you have... the sky is the limit.

My next school project is to make a remix of a song using logic studio. So this is my chance to start getting comfortable and making the switch. This is all perfect timing being that I have been thinking about making a mixtape of remixes, and I've been thinking about getting more intense with Logic.

So I've been trying to edit my video's from the A3C because I got some good footage. But I for some reason can't get the frame rates correct... I guess the frame rate on the camera I used were different. I'm determined to figure it out though so it WILL be up on my page soon...

Conference call last night...

So last night I finally joined the futurstardjs which is cool! I finally listened in to a conference call and this one was with T-Pain. Got some good contact info on Pain as well as some other kats in the industry! Shout out to homie LNYCE for hooking all this up! Hopefully we'll meet at the studio next time! It is definitely a good spot for all us DJs to network and get music together...

Studio Session Today

Been working in the studio today @ Swagg Team working with a few katz on their album. Started off listening to some tracks with Joc and some other boyz. Dude came through shopping some tracks to the label (pretty dope tracks). I was a little impressed with the fact that Joc asked him "What do you make your tracks in?" he said fruity loops! I gotta say, I know it's all about the person behind the computer is what makes a hott beat but I always doubted fruity loops just because the quality and tracks that I have heard out of it, were always TRASH! O' Boy did have some FIRE though!!!!

Then went and started working on a mix for up and coming artist Montana... A few dudes sat in as I mixed it down and turned their work into a masterpiece! Of course I left getting a industry contact. One kat was impressed and he had said he learned so much from sitting in with me.

When it all comes down to it though... yes it is partially the software, room environment, and high quality monitors... but "my ears" is what makes a difference with my mixes compared to others! Thank you god for my gift!

School starts again

So this past week, school started for me. As always, I don't mind learning... you can never learn enough in your lifetime. I also got a pretty good school schedule this time with only Thursday & Friday classes. This gives me time to really work on my craft more and also get me into the studio with my internship. I'm taking some advanced studio classes which so far is pretty good.

I'm also looking to get back in the studio working on the SSL console, which I'm totally in love with! Nothing better than a really good analog desk to work on! I will be recording a few more bands this quarter as part of my portfolio projects so hopefully the sessions go well (check my youtube for the recording sessions later).

On another note, I've been doing an internship and using it towards credit for school. Out of the few internships I have done, I feel really good about this one. The people there are cool kats, real and down to earth! Not to mention they're right in the area where I need to be... as far as creating relationships. SWAGG TEAM ENT. I have had a few sessions with some of the artist under Swagg Team but a few days ago was my first session with Yung Joc (owner of the label). We had a good vibe in the studio and he actually asked me "When can we get back into the studio together?" so I'm pretty happy for that. relationships relationships relationships are everything when it comes to the entertainment industry... or any industry for that matter.

On My Hustle...

So today is A3C day! I've been working on a some hot new tracks and especially mixing them down. The newest one is a HUGE club banger! Now days, your tracks need to sound radio ready or mastered straight out the production room. And guess who's the man for the job... your one and only!

I've been up all morning prepping myself, getting the artwork for my CD labels, burning CDs, and just and just being ready for this major festival. Hawaii Hip Hop is here to stay and catching up with this atlanta scene.

A3C Hip Hop Festival...

The countdown begins. Yet another networking event for me to attend and expose my musical talent. It's the A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta.

I've been hearing that this is another big event out here besides the Atlantis Music Festival (which I attended last year), and the monthly "I do Music" networking event which I definitely need to start attending again!

So here I go again... ready to get my hustle on, work them beats CDs & business cards to hand out, See who's hott, ask a lot of Qs to the panelist, and of course network network network. I also plan on entering one of the beat battles on one of the days so hopefully things will go well.
